Frequently asked questions
Common questions about peptide therapy.
Short answers below. For a longer list, see our full FAQ page.
What is peptide therapy?
Peptides are short chains of amino acids that the body uses for signaling. In a clinical setting, peptide therapy refers to specific peptide medications prescribed under medical supervision — for example, GLP-1 receptor agonists for weight management, or peptides being studied for tissue repair and sleep quality.
Do I need a prescription?
Yes. Every peptide we offer requires a prescription written by our medical director after an in-person consultation. We do not sell peptides direct-to-consumer.
How is peptide therapy different from supplements?
Supplements are sold over the counter and aren't prescription medications. Peptides are dispensed by licensed pharmacies under a prescription. They're taken under medical supervision because dosing, administration, and monitoring matter.
Are peptides legal?
FDA-approved peptide medications such as Semaglutide and Tirzepatide are legal when prescribed by a licensed practitioner. Compounded versions of these and other peptides are dispensed under specific FDA compounding regulations. We follow all applicable state and federal requirements.
How are peptides administered?
Most peptides we prescribe are administered as small subcutaneous injections that patients can give themselves at home, similar to how insulin is taken. We provide training during your consultation. Some peptides are available as nasal sprays or oral preparations.
How quickly will I see results?
Results vary substantially by peptide, by patient, and by the goal of therapy. We do not guarantee outcomes. Your provider will discuss realistic expectations during your consultation, and we adjust your protocol based on how you actually respond.
All peptide therapy at our clinic requires a prescription from a licensed practitioner after an in-person consultation. We do not sell peptides direct-to-consumer. Individual results vary; outcomes are not guaranteed.
Have questions? Start with a conversation.
Consultations are free and in-person at our Altoona clinic. There's no commitment to a prescription — sometimes the right answer is "not yet" or "not this peptide." We'll tell you either way.
